Transponder chips

Do you know where the transponder chip is locate in your key?

Most modern remote keys the chip is hidden away so it cant get lost or broken. But some of the older remote keys, if you drop the keys and it comes apart there is good chance the transponder chip will fall out and then be impossible to find.

I've had a couple of jobs this week where the customer had done exactly that, dropped their keys and lost the transponder chip.
They were both unable to find the chip so obviously couldn't start the car and were stranded in the car park.

One was in an easy fix as the I could just replace the chip and re-program to the vehicle. The other one unfortunately had to wait 24 hrs as they needed a 4 digit security code to re-program the key.

Your vehicle comes with the security code when it comes out the showroom but most people lose this quite quickly.
I can draw some codes from the vehicle's but some makes and models this is impossible and the only way to get the codes is to order them from the dealer for a small price. Some take 15 mins and some take 12 hrs, again depending on the make and model.

If you lose the transponder chip in your remote key in Essex then call A.R Locksmiths on 07813842390
