This is due to me being in london taking part in the Prudential 100 bike ride to raise money for Alzhiemers Society.
Please feel free to call and leave a message if the job you require isnt an emergency and I will get back to first thing Monday morning.
Been a good Start to the week with various jobs along the way.
Monday we Programmed a new key to a Mini Cooper in Braintree after the customer had lost the transponder chip thus not being able to start the car.
Tuesday we replaced a customers front and back door locks in Chelmsford for security reasons after they had recently moved house. Also we cut and programmed a new remote key for a Ford Transit as the customers dog got hold of his old key. Regarding the customer that moved house, we can't recommend this enough as still so many people in the uk dont change the locks if they move house, it is so important that people do this.
We have spent most of today in Billericay, the first job was fitting a new gate to a driveway as they were having to constantly adjust the old one as it kept dropping. (picture below)
The second job was cutting and programming a new remote key to a ford focus due to the customer losing his car keys, and on the way back from billericay we picked up a job in Danbury replacing a Battery in a ford focus remote key. Nice easy job to finish the day.
Have you recently moved house or moving house in the near furture, did you think about changing the locks?
So many people move house and don't even think about changing the locks. Police and Insurance companies recommend that if you move house that you should replace the locks as you don't know how many people the previous owner had given keys to.
Family, friends, neighbours, you never really know who has got keys to your new house, it will put your mind at rest and protect the valuable's in your home.
A.R Locksmiths offer moving home packages, so if you have recently moved or moving in the future then please call us to find out what we can offer you.
With the start of the six-week summer holidays now upon us, many families will be jumping in their caravans and escaping on a break to the coast or countryside.
But, before setting off it’s important you make sure your holiday home is suitably secure, as summer is the peak time for caravan burglaries, with opportunist thieves on the lookout for easy pickings.
Thieves are often drawn to caravans or motorhomes due to the likelihood that they will find they contain expensive electrical items such as smartphones and tablets, which have become part of our modern day life.
With this in mind, the following top caravan security tips offer advice on how owners they can keep their valuables safe while they go off and explore the great outdoors.
Set an alarm
Stand-alone alarms are ideal for protecting caravans and motorhomes as they can be placed freestanding on a shelf or fixed to a wall, and will alert you if an intruder breaks in. Each alarm can be accessorised with a remote key fob, so you can easily arm and disarm your system from a distance. Remember, if you do have an alarm it’s also a good idea to display a visible sticker in your caravan or motorhome window to say that one is fitted, as this can help to discourage any potential intruders.
Caravans and motorhomes are often left unattended while you’re out exploring the local area. Yale’s handy portable travel safes are ideal for storing valuables such as passports, spending money, laptops or tablets. They can be attached to any fixed objects in your caravan to keep your belongings secure while you’re out and about.
If you’re travelling with bikes make sure you keep them secure. You can do this by investing in a sturdy bike lock. Yale offers four different types of locks to choose from. For maximum protection, use two locks of different types (a D-lock and robust chain and padlock is ideal). Remember to always lock your bicycle to something immovable – in particular, an object a bicycle cannot be lifted over and use a lock that cannot be broken, cut or removed.
Save on insurance
Not only does a secure caravan give you peace of mind, it can also save you save money on your insurance premium. When looking for caravan insurance, shop around, as many companies will offer discounts for security measures such as intruder alarms, hitch locks and wheel clamps, as well as for using insurance approved security products.
Another busy day for A.R Locksmiths
Repaired a lock in an UPVC door in Brentwood for an elderly couple as it was getting harder and harder for them to lock it. Just made sure the keeps were lined up with the locks and gave the lock a service. We then had a call come in for a Patio door in Chelmsford that the customer couldn’t open. After spending a bit of time on it, I snapped the Euro lock using a specially designed tool, which then made it easier for me to see what I was doing to get the door open. The lock ended up being faulty so we replaced the patio door lock and the euro lock and it was as good as new.
Last job of the day was for local Estate Agents who had lost the keys to a house in Heybridge. I quickly gained entry to the rear patio door and once inside it then made it easier to gain entry to the front door. I replaced both the locks and left one relived Estate agent to lock up.
Good start to the week for A.R Locksmiths, few jobs booked in and a couple of jobs in Tiptree completed.
One customer today had just moved into a new place and was worried about the previous owners friends and family still having spare keys for the property.
We went round the property changing the locks where needed and adding extra security to doors and windows if the locks werent up to scratch.
She was very happy and felt alot more secure after we had finished.
Roll on tomorrow
Good start to the weekend for A.R locksmiths
One customer lost their keys for a wooden door in colchester, luckily it wasnt locked so i took out the old lock and replaced it with a 5 lever sashlock.
My other customer had trouble getting into to her house in tiptree, i serviced the lock in the upvc door and replaced the door handle as it was very loose and wasnt helping the situation.
Two more happy customers who are happy to recommend me
Today we helped a gentleman get his caravan ready for his holiday next week.
He lost his keys to his caravan during the winter months so we gained entry to the main door and two other locks, then replaced them all with some some new locks which were keyed alike. We also cut a spare key for him and recorded the key number on our database incase it happens again.
Another job well done.
Programmed two new keys and remotes to a ford mondeo.
A Customer this morning had bought a ford mondeo 57 plate but only got one key with the car. He ordered two new keys and we cut and programmed them to the car leaving him with three working keys.
Ford are making it more and more difficult if you lose your keys as they no longer keep key cut codes on record. So unless you have the key code still with the vehicle manual then i would make sure you have a spare key as its very annoying and expensive if you lose your car keys.
Please call A.R Locksmiths if you have and questions or would like a new spare key cut: 07813842390
Another good job completed today by A.R Locksmiths. A customer with a Peugeot 306 couldnt lock the passengers door with the remote so could only to do it manually. We replaced the old lock with a good second hand lock as requested by the customer and it now works perfectly. This is the second job we have done for this customer and he has already booked us in to progam a new key to a ford transit.
